    Compound bows would be too difficult to take care of in the apocalypse, stick with recurve.

    I have been using crossbows regularly for the past 25 years and I will admit I am not that much faster at reloading them now than when I started,I would not choose it for a primary weapon but I would have it strapped to my backpack as a secondary for quiet shots,Daryl d makes it look cool and unique because no one else has a crossbow,carbon fiber bolts are sturdy and reliable to re use but cost 6-10 dollars a pc,you can buy more aluminum bolts cheaper in bulk around 2 dollars a pc but they usually warp and are only good for 1-3 shots depending how hard the target is.field points or mechanical broad heads are best for retrieving bolts from your target but if you use cheap broad heads u can unthread the bolt and leave the head in the target,
